The Sunday Funnies
I spoke to parents last week at a PTA meeting. I had trouble negotiating wearing reading glasses to see my notes, while wanting to see the audience too. Later, Dorothy told me, "I was trying to telepath to you that you should stop taking your glasses on and off."
I remembered that I had worn bright orange athletic shorts to the beach last month, and Dorothy told me that the shorts were embarrassing her.
"Did it embarrass you that I was taking my glasses on and off?" I asked.
"No," Dorothy answered. "I thought you might be embarrassing yourself."

Editorial: Mr. Miller
Dorothy has a few observations about her new teacher:
"Mr. Miller doesn't seem obsessed with tests like the other teachers are."
"I got to pick my own team for kickball. Mr. Miller has all kinds of nice things for the kids who are picked last. For example, they get to pick which team they're on!"
Mr. Miller gave the students a paper and said it would be due on September 15, which happens to be Dorothy's birthday, and which Dorothy happens to be planning constantly. Dorothy said she raised her hand and pointed out, "That's a Sunday."

The Sunday Funny
Dorothy finished her bowl of macaroni and cheese. "May I have a refill?" she asked.
"I've heard of a lot of ways to ask for seconds, but I've never heard it called a refill," I laughed.
A moment passed. "May I also have...a second serving of my water?" she asked.
