The Sunday Funnies
Dorothy watches a show about a little girl who acts as the detective for a queen. Out of the blue, Dorothy suggested, "Mira should get paid because she's the royal detective."
We had delicious turtle candies which were dark chocolate topped with sea salt. Dorothy may have been the first to taste them, and she announced to the group, "There's something you need to know! This sugar is salt!"

The Sunday Funnies
We stayed up late this weekend, and Dorothy kept announcing, "It's 72 minutes past my bedtime!" "It's 86 minutes past my bedtime!"
A food pantry truck was ahead of us on the road, and Dorothy asked about the picture on the back. "That's a Wal-Mart truck that has an advertisement for a food pantry," I said. "When people need groceries but cannot afford them, they can go to the food pantry and pick-up groceries for free. Wal-Mart is advertising that it donates money to the food pantry." "Shouldn't they donate food?" she asked.
Dorothy referred to a time when I elbowed her in the head. "When did I elbow you in the head?" I asked. "When you were jumping jacking," she said.

We were watching a show about ballet dancers. "They dance on their toes, and that must be easy for them! They have flat-toed ballet shoes," Dorothy observed.
Dorothy's school has a few playgrounds, and I asked her which one she played on that day. "The run-away-from-Elijah playground," she answered.
Dorothy complained that her online reading program made her "login again to continue learning."
I mentioned to Dorothy that I had trouble sleeping the previous night, and that I got up and ate a big snack. "That sounds like so much fun," Dorothy said enviously.
Gram sent us mail from Valdosta, and I was pleased that it arrived so quickly. "It usually takes 4 hours to get to Valdosta, but it took two days for the mail to get here," Dorothy complained.

The Monday Funnies
Dorothy was doing a school assignment online, and she came to me and complained, "I missed two questions in a row that were about the second paragraph, and the problem is, I don't know what a paragraph is."
I was complaining to Dorothy about people who have been traveling for the past year and spreading Covid. Dorothy decided to rat-out one of her classmates: "One of the most likely reasons is Makaela. She travels to a place called Jacksonville all the time."
"Mom, I learned that stars can explode." "Yes." "The sun is a star." "Yes." "What will happen if the sun explodes?

The Sunday Funnies
I noticed a big scrape on Dorothy's knee after I picked her up from school and I asked her if it made her cry. "It's just a highlighting hurt," she said. "What does that mean?" I asked. "It doesn't hurt that much," she answered, "it's just sort of highlighting your boo boo."
We were playing a game where you put a card with an image on your forehead, and you can't see your own card, but you have to ask the other players questions until you figure out your object. Dorothy was sneaking peeks at her own cards. I placed a moon on her forehead, and her first question was, "What time of the day do I come out?"
