Google updated the voice on my Google Maps. Dorothy said that she likes the new voice because just hearing the old one makes her feel car sick.

The Sunday Funny
We watched the 1986 movie "Star Trek IV." There's a scene where the characters from 2286 travel back in time and need to use the pay phone. At the same time that the characters were learning to use the Yellow Pages, Brian and I were explaining the Yellow Pages to Dorothy. This made us all laugh, and Dorothy added, "Well, I'm from the future, too."

The Sunday Funny
Dorothy continues to be interested in the rules of the road. She asked again about the yellow lines on the road, specifically around a curve where one side is dashed and one side is solid. I started explaining about sight lines and curves. Dorothy observed, "But when you move into the other lane to pass, you're stuck going the wrong way, and you can't cross back."

The Sunday Funnies
Dorothy started middle school this week! A few days in, I told her, "I'm hopeful that you won't have behavior problems in your main classes this year, because in your academic classes (math, science, English, and social studies), all of the students have good grades and high test scores. In your electives, you have a mix of all kinds of students." "That makes sense," Dorothy replied, "because in art, all the kids were shooting mechanical pencils at each other."
Dorothy was enthusiastic about her first week of studies. She excitedly shared, "In English, we were talking about point-of-view, and I thought that the narrator was third-person limited, but the teacher thought it was third person-omniscient, so I made an argument that included both examples from the text and from real life."
