MOM:  Dorothy, I think you're big enough now to use the potty all by yourself!  Do you think you can do that?  Just go into the bathroom, pull down your pants, and after you use the potty, remember to use the toilet paper and flush the potty, and pull up your pants.  Then wash your hands; you can use your step stool to turn on the water, and remember to turn it off when you're all done.  Do you think you can do all that by yourself?

DOROTHY:  Yes!

Dorothy runs enthusiastically down hall, pit pat.
