Pre-k graduation photo
The kids were asked to submit words about their teacher. Dorothy said:
"She's very nice to me and I love her. She's the best teacher in the world. She does Clifford readers. My favorite thing is Clifford readers. The most fun thing we did was on St. Patrick's Day. There was glitter on the floor, my chair was tipped over, the kitchen was turned backwards, the blocks were all over block center, the cars were all over block center, too, the easel was written on, there was something painted on it and there was felt on the floor. Ms. Cail loved it."

What I Want to Be When I Grow-up dress-up day at (virtual) school
A few kids dressed-up as Wonder Woman and Cinderella. Dorothy reasoned, "Oh, I bet they don't have costumes for what they really want to be when they grow-up, so they're just wearing the costumes they do have."

The Sunday Funnies
Dorothy started to take the cushions off the couch. "That's too much mess," I said. "You already have all the markers spilled, and the Frozen toys. That's a lot to pick up." Dorothy tossed a couch cushion and said, "It's worth it!"
I downloaded a Peppa Pig game for Dorothy. I haven't watched her play it, but I'm guessing it's a game where you collect toys and are then awarded a pair of golden boots. I'm guessing this because when Dorothy was begging me to let her play the game again, she said, "Aren't you curious to see what happens when I collect all the toys and get the golden boots?"
I asked Dorothy the time. "Eight eighty," she said. "Tell me the numbers," I followed. "Eight, dot on the top, dot on the bottom, zero, eight," she answered.
Dorothy was listening to an audiobook of Because of Winn Dixie, a juvenile fiction book which references the Civil War. Brian and I exchanged a look, wondering if we were willing to answer any questions that came up. Dorothy didn't dwell on it, but the next day, there was an ad on t.v. for a Civil War documentary. "Wait," Dorothy asked me, "The Civil War really happened?"

The Sunday Funnies (The Science Edition)
Dorothy asked, "If a lizard is on water, will it turn clear?"
She also wants to know if lightning gets wet.
Somehow I asked the difference between a frog and a toad; Dorothy told me that a toad is an old frog.
Dorothy looked at a book that had drawings of Adam and Eve, and then asked, "If Adam and Eve looked like that, then how were the first black and brown people born?
I have explained involuntary muscles, which Dorothy now refers to as "unvolunteering".
Dorothy asked me to read a book about space for quite a long time; I thought it was a bit above our heads but she kept urging me on. Later, I overheard her tell Brian, "That book has a chapter on every planet, and I didn't understand anything it said!"

The Sunday Funnies
Dorothy has a book with stories of "radical women". One story was about a child born as a boy who liked wearing dresses and wanted to be a girl. Dorothy asked why he was included in the book. I said, "Maybe he asked, 'Please, pretty please, put me in the book.'" "Oh, I get it," Dorothy responded knowingly, "pretty..."
We've been watching a yoga show for kids on YouTube. The first day's story was about the Wizard of Oz, which might have subconsciously influenced Dorothy's repetition of "a special word, which is namaste" as "witches never stay."
On this yoga show, the host is in front of a green screen with a background of the day's theme (such as the Land of Oz or the Frozen castle). Today, she was standing in a garish, cartoonish living room, and with coronavirus on her mind, Dorothy said, "Oh, this time she's doing it at her home!"
