We have a hand-me-down paperback Barbie book, and we recently watched the Barbie movie of the same story. The movie was long and included much more detail. Dorothy said to me, "I know why this book doesn't have the whole story! I think some of the pages were torn out!"
Dorothy often misunderstands when villains are being insincere or sarcastic (or using terms she doesn't know) and she credits them with kind intentions. In the Barbie movie, the scared villain spoke to the heroine's barking dog, "Nice puppy, nice puppy." Dorothy said, "The bad guy is calling him a nice puppy, so the bad guy must be a little bit good because he's calling him nice."
I complained that my body creaked and I must be getting old. Dorothy responded, "It's hard for Gram to get down and it's hard for Big Daddy to get up."
We were gluing sequins on paper. I asked, "Are you sad? You look sad." Dorothy said, "No, that's just my craft face."
