A Notre Dame commercial was promoting its advances in medical technology design, including images of a woman putting on a prosthetic hand. Dorothy asked why it was on the commercial, and I said, "Oh, well some people who go to school at Notre Dame--" "Need a hand to go to school?" she interrupted. "Need it to hold a pencil and stuff?"
Dorothy loves Barbie movies, and she regards Barbie as I would a beloved celebrity. For example, "Mama, Barbie wears socks to bed!" she discovered.
We replaced our refrigerator, and I was taking photos of the old one to post on Facebook Marketplace and sell. Dorothy asked why I was taking photos, and I told her that I was planning to sell the fridge, and she said, "Oh, so you're taking pictures of it so you'll remember it?"
We were reading Mary Poppins, and with the aid of a compass, Mary Poppins and the children traveled "round the world" to the North, South, and East, and met magical animals. Finally, Mary Poppins announced that they were going West, and when they landed in an ocean and met a magical dolphin, Dorothy stopped me. "Wait, where have they already been?" she asked. "North, South, East, and now West," I said. "Then where do they live?" she asked.
Our new refrigerator has an ice maker, and for the first few days, we had to dump the new ice into the sink instead of using it. Somehow in this time Dorothy started calling the ice maker the "ice dumper."
