The Sunday Funnies

Dorothy watches YouTube videos of toy unboxings.  The person on camera will often ask a question, such as "Do you like this new puppy dog?  If you like it, say you like it in the comments."
Dorothy will respond aloud, "I like it in the comments."

Dorothy's teacher Ms. Candace mentioned to me that she has two horses.  I mentioned this to Dorothy, who said, "She also has two dogs.  One of her dogs has four legs, and the other dog has three legs."  "Oh?  What happened to the fourth leg on the other dog?" I asked.  Dorothy said, "It was stolen."

Mushrooms and jelly shoes

Dorothy was in the yard with Dad today when she came inside and excitedly told me that she had found a mushroom. She borrowed my phone and took a picture of it for me.

Halloween catalog

I love it when I discover things around the house Dorothy has done without telling me.

I'll find the step stool out of place and look up a few feet to figure out what high thing she was trying to reach.

She hides little rocks and other keepsakes from the school playground in her socks and they fly out when she takes off her shoes at home.

Here you can see that she paged through a Halloween catalog and circled all the things she liked.  (On other pages she crossed out the creepy things she didn't like.)

The Sunday Funnies

Dorothy's four-year-old doctor's appointment went fine, but of course there were multiple immunization shots and tears and such.  After the appointment, Dorothy was treated to ice cream and a little set of plastic dolls called "My Mini MixieQ's".

In bed that night, Dorothy played with her little dolls, and she called me in to tell me, "I'm pretending that these My Mini MixieQ's are going to the doctor.  They're doing all the same things I did today, except..."

She paused, and I expected her to say "except they do not get shots."

Instead, she said, "except...they will not get Mini MixieQ's for a present because they are Mini MixieQ's!"

Dorothy's 4th birthday party in the park

Dorothy wears this hat from her godmother every year.

Dorothy said that a "movie party" means "Elsa-Anna plates and napkins".

This banner is on its 4th edition.

We had to discuss these post-modern candles.

The Sunday Funnies

One day if Dorothy reads these Sunday Funnies she'll be surprised to find out that the salt shaker she loves to use on all her food has tape over the top to make sure no salt comes out.

Lately Dorothy is into:
string cheese
LOL Surprise! videos on YouTube where people unbox and describe the toys.
Pointing out the word "no" on signs and in books.
Audiobooks and podcast stories, aka "princess stories"

Things Dorothy does not like:
Balloons (because they pop) -- she asked for an "Elsa-Anna birthday party with no balloons"
Glow sticks (because they fade)

For Dorothy's birthday, Brian imitated a Frozen short where Elsa sets-up a string that runs through the house.  When Anna wakes, she follows the string to collect presents placed along the way.  Dorothy woke up, saw the yellow string attached to her bed, and immediately understood.  After the fun of following the string and opening presents, we watched the short, Frozen Fever, on t.v.  Dorothy took notes and corrected her dad:  "You used a yellow string, but Elsa used a red string for Anna."
