The Sunday Funnies

Dorothy and Willa were hiding from the plumbers who were working on our house.  As they went indoors and outdoors, the kids reappeared, then hid again.  Dorothy told me, "They probably think you are an only person, that you're not married, and you don't have any kids."

Willa is very imaginative, and Dorothy is very practical.  While her mom was away on a trip, Willa sent her with a stuffed animal to snuggle; her mom texted me a picture of the toy enjoying the plane ride which I shared with Willa.  "I filled this doll with love,"  Willa said.  "How did you fill the doll with love?" Dorothy asked.  "I just did," Willa said.  "Here, want to hold it?"  She offered the phone to Dorothy, who answered, "Yes, even though I will not really be holding it because I will just be holding the phone."

"I told my mom that I think I'm in love with Dorothy," Willa told me.  "I'm embarrassed to say this," Dorothy chimed in, "but I think I'm in love with Willa."  I said nothing from the front seat of the car.  They continued.  "Maybe we should get married," Dorothy said.  "No!  That's silly!" Willa responded.  "We're not grown-ups yet."
