The Sunday Not-So-Funny

UPDATE 9/6:  The magazine updated the website with the correct words.  Order is restored.

Dorothy submitted a poem about hummingbirds to Zoobooks magazine.  Months later, I was thrilled to see it published in the online gallery, and called her over to the computer.

She burst into tears.

The magazine editors changed the words of her poem.  (I think they had trouble reading her handwriting.)

"It's supposed to say glad, not red!  I mean, how would I not know whether it's red or blue?
They changed word to worry!  That doesn't make any sense -- worry doesn't rhyme with bird!
This has my name, but it makes me look like I'm 5 years old, not 8!"

I agree completely.

Here is the real poem:

Hum, hum, hum, it's what they do
I  don't know if they're glad or blue
The humming of their wings
Makes me want to sing
Sticking their beaks into flowers
Flying backward is their superpower
Zipping softly without a word
Do you know what it is?
It's a hummingbird!
