The Sunday Funnies

Dorothy asked, "So what are birds for, anyway?  Making music?"

I mentioned to Brian that two people stopping to chat in our yard had complimented the gate he built.  Dorothy added, "Then people will be like, 'How much for the gate?'"

Often lately, if you correct Dorothy's pronunciation as she reads, she'll counter, "Well, I say it like..."

"Dorothy, I have a picture of me wearing this dress when I was your age.  I'll show it to you later," I said.  "Is it in black and white?" Dorothy asked.

Overheard while Dorothy was reading and turned to an illustrated page:  "Oh, I should have seen that!  It's not the Fairyland Place, it's the Fairyland Palace!"

Dorothy's teacher was out for the day because her son was sick.  When I picked up Dorothy from school, she announced, "We had a spare teacher today!"

Lately Dorothy is obsessed with the idea of a diary.  I told her that I found one online that she could buy with her $5.  "How many keys does it have?" she asked.  "Two," I told her.  "But I've thought of four places to hide the keys," she said.
