We love Andrew

The Sunday Funnies

Dorothy and I were cuddling on the couch, and she licked me and meowed.  It clicked with me that this must be what goes on when Dorothy "plays kitty cat" with her friend on the school playground.  "Dorothy," I asked, "when you play kitty cat with Rye, do you lick her?"  "No," Dorothy said.  "She licks me."

We read a version of Sleeping Beauty where the uninvited fairy put a curse on the baby.  Dorothy said, "The fairy would not have done that curse if only they had invited her."  I asked, "What do you think she would have given the baby if she had been invited?" and Dorothy replied, "A pretty pacifier."

Dorothy:  My arms don't move together but my eyes do.  Why?

Pandora radio was playing and Dorothy said, "That's funny that there's an Octopus's Garden."  I said, "This song is by The Beatles, the same band that played the other song you liked, Yellow Submarine."  She said, "That's funny that this is really from A Bug's Life."

Brian, reading a short story about Bambi:  I don't think I've ever seen Bambi.
Dorothy:  That's because he's pretend.

Dorothy's fork fell to the floor.  I said, "Be careful with your forks."  "Why?" she asked.  "When your fork falls on the floor, it makes the fork dirty, and it makes the floor dirty, and it creates work for me when I have to pick it up," I said as I leaned over to pick up the fork.  "It's only short work," she said.

I let the air out of a pool toy.  Dorothy found it, brought it to me, and said, "Look!  It's deflated."  I said, "Oh, it looks like the plug opened.  It's okay.  I can blow it up again.  Also, sweetie, 'deflated' is a great word."  She said, "Mom, lots of people say 'deflated'."
