Does anybody know what flower this is?  I call it a "Dragon Flower".

Dorothy's 4th birthday party in the park

Dorothy wears this hat from her godmother every year.

Dorothy said that a "movie party" means "Elsa-Anna plates and napkins".

This banner is on its 4th edition.

We had to discuss these post-modern candles.

The Sunday Funnies

One day if Dorothy reads these Sunday Funnies she'll be surprised to find out that the salt shaker she loves to use on all her food has tape over the top to make sure no salt comes out.

Lately Dorothy is into:
string cheese
LOL Surprise! videos on YouTube where people unbox and describe the toys.
Pointing out the word "no" on signs and in books.
Audiobooks and podcast stories, aka "princess stories"

Things Dorothy does not like:
Balloons (because they pop) -- she asked for an "Elsa-Anna birthday party with no balloons"
Glow sticks (because they fade)

For Dorothy's birthday, Brian imitated a Frozen short where Elsa sets-up a string that runs through the house.  When Anna wakes, she follows the string to collect presents placed along the way.  Dorothy woke up, saw the yellow string attached to her bed, and immediately understood.  After the fun of following the string and opening presents, we watched the short, Frozen Fever, on t.v.  Dorothy took notes and corrected her dad:  "You used a yellow string, but Elsa used a red string for Anna."

The Sunday Funnies

Dorothy's first words each morning continue to be whatever is rolling around in her head.  Today, she greeted me with, "Did you know that the humperback is the biggest dolphin in the dolphin family?"

Sarah:  What is it about princesses that you like so much?
Dorothy:  They're so pretty.  Their clothes are so pretty.  I like to dress like them.  I like their tiaras.  I like that they wear tiaras.  I like their pretty songs.

Dorothy volunteered, "I want to have an Elsa-Anna birthday party this year.  The little kids and the big kids at school told me that they don't have plain birthday parties, they have movie birthday parties."

Dorothy's backpack is from the Skip Hop Zoo collection.  As you've seen in pictures, hers is a raccoon.  For the new school year, I got her a new backpack -- similar to the last, but a hedgehog.  Dorothy opened this back-to-school present and exclaimed, "A new raccoon backpack!"

The Sunday Funnies

We like to taste the flavors of Skittles.  Recently, I gave Dorothy M&Ms, and she tasted each color and let me know the following:
Red is red apple.
Green is lime.
Orange is orange.
Yellow is lemon.
Brown is chocolate chip.
Blue is all the flavors mixed together.

I love hearing Dorothy's language come together.  She filled a cup until it was overflowing with water, and said, "Oops.  I think I need fewer water."

I guess I don't dress up enough.  I donned a dress and jewelry for an event on Monday evening.  Dorothy wouldn't quit saying, "Mom, you look so beautiful.  Your dress looks beautiful.  Your earrings look beautiful.  Your shoes look beautiful.  Your eyes look beautiful."  The next morning, snuggling in pajamas and with nothing on the agenda that day, Dorothy woke me from bed with the request, "Mom, you looked so beautiful yesterday.  Can you wear that same outfit again today?"

We were playing camping and I took out Dorothy's magnetic fishing pole and fish.  She told me, "We can catch these but we aren't going to eat them.  These are 'Up Fish'.  We can catch them because they can live up out of water."
