The Sunday Funny
Dorothy's friend slipped her an invitation to his birthday party, but the whole class wasn't invited. I asked her when he gave it to her, and she revealed a method the kids used all year long:
"When we want to go somewhere, we roll our pencil there, and then we get out of our seats to get the pencil. So Grady rolled his pencil to me, and gave me the invitation, and then I rolled my pencil to my backpack, and I got up and put it in there."

The Sunday Funny
Brian and I were discussing how both of us have friends from elementary school whose parent recently died. Dorothy wanted some explanation, and I offered, "Daddy and I are at the stage where the parents of our friends who are our same age are starting to die." A few quiet moments passed, then Dorothy broke the somber silence: "I guess we're all thinking the same thing."

The Sunday Funnies
Dorothy had several envelopes she wanted to open. "I need the letter slicer," she told me.
Dorothy returned two plastic buckets of sidewalk chalk to the carport. "You're really growing!" I encouraged her. "You cleaned-up the chalk without my asking." "Actually, it's mud," she confessed.
"Your room looks good," I told Dorothy after we cleaned it. "I know!" she answered. "I can practically sleep on the floor!"
The story from school is that Devon brings deodorant to school. Apparently several students wear deodorant, but Devon brings it to school. "Jace says Devon wants to impress Evalyn," Dorothy told me.

The Sunday Funny
For years we've explained color blindness to Dorothy as "the colors get mixed-up." After a long back-and-forth this week, she made it clear that she thought color blindness meant that you see all colors clearly, but they appear swapped-around, like a rainbow ordered "yellow, blue, orange, red, purple, green."
