The Sunday Funnies

Dorothy attends her school half-day; other students nap at school and stay through the afternoon.  When I picked her up on Monday, she told me that her friend Wren was "in bed".  I said, "Oh, does she stay at school all day?" and Dorothy added, "And all night."

Dorothy refers to the dark (outdoors, or in her bedroom, etc.) as "the darkness".  Also, sometimes "cold" is "coldness" and pink is "pinkness".

Dorothy peered inside a burning candle and said, "Look, it made a drink in there."

The Sunday Funnies

Dorothy shook me awake, pointed to the bright window, and said, "I want you to know that I know that it's morning."

Dorothy likes to have lots explained these days, which makes me realize how often I sing out loud.  This week she has asked me to explain:**
Why "One is the loneliest number?"**
Why "Oh baby you got what I need?"**
Why "And you say he's just a friend?"**
Etc.

Dorothy was meticulously putting a top on a jar, and after a few attempts, she secured the lid and said, "Perfect enough."

Dorothy reported from school:  We made up a new language today:  Japanese!

Becky Dean gifted us with a long weekend at a Hilton Head Island resort.

Dorothy's favorite part of the whole adventure was the little soaps.

The Sunday Funnies

Sarah:  Don't do that.**
Dorothy:  Ok, I understand.**
Sarah (to Brian):  She's been saying that all day.**
Dorothy:  And all night.

Dorothy was wearing a fairy skirt and bunny slippers:  I'm a fairy bunny!  I'm going to hop-fly!

You may remember a blog post a few weeks back about a moving, talking toy dog that Dorothy admired at Target.  Today, she saw a commercial for a similar toy dog, and said, "Ahhh, look...the puppy I tried to get home."

Dorothy watches plenty of television, but it is usually a movie on the DVD player.  On vacation this week, she watched some cartoons (with commercials) on broadcast t.v., and told me, "My show keeps changing."
